Victoria Cleland appointed as Chief Cashier

The Bank of England has announced that Victoria Cleland is to replace Chris Salmon as Director of Banknotes and Chief Cashier.

In line with the Bank’s 15 point Strategic Plan, announced earlier this week by governor Mark Carney, the appointment comes as part of a comprehensive senior restructuring.

Ms Cleland will be responsible for the issue, distribution and security of banknotes, amongst other monetary functions.  From August, all new banknotes will feature Ms Cleland’s signature.

Mr Salmon will become the Executive Director for Markets.

As a member of the Bank’s Note Circulation Scheme, Vaultex works closely with the Bank of England to ensure an effective circulation of banknotes.
