Vaultrek is our annual wellbeing challenge, created to encourage colleagues across our sites and support functions to move more, spend time together, and raise money for a good cause in the process. For three weeks, people take part in whatever way fits around their day, that could be a walk at lunchtime, a longer route home, an evening in the gym, or several determined circuits of the local nature reserve.
This year, 155 Vaultex colleagues recorded 39,695,752 steps between them, obliterating our company target of 30 million. We’re delighted that their efforts resulted in a £3,800 donation to Alzheimer’s Society – a charity chosen by our people – which will help support those facing different types of Dementia.
Within the collective total were some genuinely outstanding individual contributions. One person recorded 943,282 steps across the campaign, another walked 99,754 in a single day (!), and one five-person team amassed 2,260,304 between them. Twenty-six colleagues completed at least one day above 30,000 steps, including nine who went beyond 40,000.
As well as rewarding our top performers, prizes also recognised improvement, unusual Vaultrek flag photographs, and participants selected through a random draw. These included vouchers to spend through our Reward Gateway programme, contributions to engagement budgets, and Fitbits – giving colleagues something practical to help maintain the healthier routines developed during the campaign.
For us, though, the true value of Vaultrek is helping our people become healthier, enjoy something together, and finish with a genuine sense of accomplishment. Whether somebody walked a few hundred additional steps during lunch or set off at 5am in pursuit of 100,000, each contribution gave someone the chance to achieve more than they may have expected of themselves.
We hope to carry that momentum into future initiatives as we continue helping our people prioritise their wellbeing, both in and out of the workplace.
