Vaultex work with customers to remove note wrappers from orders

At Vaultex we make no secret of the emphasis we place on our ESG profile, nor the importance of continuing to enhance it.

A cornerstone of this is our ongoing Green Path campaign; a completely employee-led initiative that uses our people’s expertise to find new ways of reducing our environmental impact, both big and small.

Since its inception in 2019, it has provided a platform for ideas to be suggested, tested, and implemented across our business. Amongst others, this has included saving over 215,000 single-use plastic coin bags per year by switching to cloth ones – and replacing plastic seals with padlocks on our cashier workstations, allowing for a saving of 430,000 single-use plastic seals per year.

Now, after a long process gaining everyone’s agreement, we’re excited to announce that another of our Green Path ideas has recently come to fruition. Since last month, we have successfully removed all note wrappers from the work of some of our customers – eliminating the need for over half a million note wrappers and saving the environment from over 1.2 tonnes of single-use plastic per year.

“Working in an industry as heavily regulated as cash, it takes a lot of time, dedication and effort to transform ideas into action – so to get this over the line is a massive achievement for everyone involved,” says Sustainability and Communications Manager, Alice Hargreaves.

“As one of the UK’s largest cash processing companies and a proud member of the Cash Industry Environmental Charter, we have a responsibility to lead the way on environmental sustainability and to help others along that road. We’re really proud of the progress we’ve made and are equally as proud of our people – as this wouldn’t be possible without their willingness to change processes that have been done in the same way for years.”

With more developments in the pipeline, we look forward to sharing more of our innovative and planet-saving ideas with you in the future.
